Getting Here

The Manchester Art Gallery is located in the city center. Due to limited on-site parking, the best way to reach the gallery is by public transport to St. Peter’s Square. From there, the gallery is just a short walk away. If you arrive by car, there are National Car Parks (NCP) paid parking areas a short walk from the gallery. The building is wheelchair accessible and suitable for electric vehicles. Entry to the gallery and many of its special family activities are free.

St Peter’s Square or Market Street stations are the nearest Metrolink stations. Both are on the Altrincham and Eccles lines.

To Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Oxford Road or Manchester Victoria. Take the Metrolink from Victoria or Piccadilly (Altrincham or Eccles direction) to Mosley Street or St Peter’s Square.

The nearest car park is available at the NCP car parks on Chepstow Street, Faulkner Street and Sackville Street. All are within five minutes of the gallery. The nearest disabled parking is on Nicholas Street or George Street, approximately 50 metres from the main entrance.

Toilets

The ground floor has several restrooms. Unisex restrooms are located next to the Gallery Cafe. Family restrooms are located next to Gallery 1. Men's and women's restrooms are available in the Atrium. Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located in the Atrium on the ground floor, as well as on the first floor near Gallery 16. Restrooms are maintained and disinfected frequently throughout the day.

Cloakroom

The lockers can be found on the first level, directly across from the family restrooms. To utilize them, a £1 coin is necessary. This coin is not refundable and is kindly contributed to aid the initiatives we undertake at the gallery.

Changing facilities

The changing rooms are located in our family bathrooms on the ground floor, next to Gallery 1, The Lion’s Den.

Multifaith and Quiet Room

If you wish to use this area, please speak to a member of the Visitors Team located on the first floor in Gallery 12 / Out of the Crate, or contact the Information Desk at 0161 235 8888.
